Kids' Shakespeare Ensemble

Students who join the 13-class workshop series will learn the fundamentals of theatre performance from trained instructors in a supportive environment. These core skills will include voice, movement, script interpretation, and Shakespearean text. We are planning supplemental stage combat and dance lessons as well. ESL students will have the added benefit of learning the core skills in an all-English environment. Theatre is a collaborative art, so participants will also build their teamwork skills. The workshop series will culminate in a final, abridged production of Romeo and Juliet.

At the end of July, students will put on a fully-staged performance of an abridged Romeo and Juliet suitable to the English level of the group. The performance will be directed by the Artistic Director of the Yokohama Theatre Group, Andrew Woolner. The three days preceding the performance will be used to rehearse and assemble the show with the director and production team.

There are two separate streams, for ESL and English native speakers, with possible further class divisions based on age and language skills. Each stream requires at least 10 students to sign up.

TEAM A: Sundays 15:00 – 18:00, April 25 to July 18
TEAM B: Saturdays 15:00 – 18:00, April 25 to July 18
* Other dates and times may be added if interest is high. Saturdays will only be offered if registration exceeds 15 students. Assignment of dates will be based on student preference, age groups, and language skills, at our discretion, in order to provide the best overall experience.

Main dates: July 22 – 24, 11:00 – 13:00, 14:00 – 18:00
Backup dates: July 29 – 31, 11:00 – 13:00, 14:00 – 18:00

To maintain the safety of students, instructors, and production crew, we will be following these safety protocols:

• All participants and staff will wear masks in the rehearsal rooms at all times, until the actual performances.
• Parents and guardians will be asked to remain outside the building during class time
• The final performances will be streamed live online and available for subsequent viewing. Only staff and students will be permitted in the theatre during the performance.

These rules may be modified, relaxed, or tightened, depending on the course of the pandemic and the vaccine rollout.

• The shows will be professionally photographed and recorded.

Once payment has been made, no refunds will be given, except in the following circumstances:

• YTG cancels workshops* and does not provide make-up workshops to replace them. You will be refunded based on the hourly value of the cancelled workshops.
• YTG cancels the final performances*, and does not book alternative dates, in which case 8000 yen will be refunded to each student

* Except in the case of an unanticipated event beyond YTG’s control that would necessarily prevent the running of the class, for example, major earthquake, volcanic eruption, public transit strike, or strict government-recommended pandemic restrictions.

ネイティブな英語で行うワークショップです。担当講師は全員プロフェッショナルで、13部構成のワークショップを通して、演劇の基礎を学べるだけでなく以下の4つの要素が学べるようになっています：発声方法、振り付け・身体表現、台本の解釈のしかた、シェイクスピア演劇の読み方。これらの他にも、戦闘・殺陣の振り付けやダンスの振り付けレッスンも行う予定です。英語がまだ苦手というお子様には、ネイティブな環境で英語のスキルを磨く事も出来ます。

演劇は共同で行われる芸術です。舞台制作を通して、チームワークも磨く事が出来ます。

最終的には、『ロミオとジュリエット』の公演をもってプログラムの終了となります。

7月末に、各グループの英語レベルに適した、『ロミオとジュリエット』のパフォーマンス公演を上演します。演出、芸術監督はアンドリュー・ウールナー（横浜シアターグループ）。

年齢と語学力に基づき、1数グループに分けてパフォーマンスします。各グループ10人を予定していて、ESL（英語を母語にしないメンバー）とネイティブなメンバーとの部門があり選択できるので、無理なく学べます。安心して参加することができます。

ESL（英語を母語にしないメンバー）とネイティブなメンバーで2つの配信を予定していますが、参加人数・年齢・英語スキルなどによって増える可能性もあります。ただし、一つの配信につき最低でも10人は必要になります。

チームA：4月25日 ~ 7月18日、毎週日曜日15:00 ~ 18:00
チームB：4月25日 ~ 7月18日、毎週土曜日15:00 ~ 18:00
※応募人数に応じて日程は変わる可能性があります。原則として土曜日のワークショップは応募人数が15人を超えた場合のみの開催となります。また、ワークショップの質の向上のために、チームの振り分けはお子様の希望、年齢、英語スキルなどをもとに講師陣が振り分けます。

• 参加者とスタッフは全員、本公演までは常時マスクを着用
• 検温とこまめな手指の消毒
• 授業中は、保護者は建物の外で待機
• 最終公演は全てオンラインでライブ配信され、配信終了後はオンデマンドで視聴が可能となります。公演中は、スタッフと出演者以外の劇場内の出入りは禁止します。

これらの規定は、感染の拡大状況、ワクチン摂取状況などによって、その都度変わる可能性があります。

本公演はプロのカメラマンによって撮影・録画されます

お支払いが完了すると、以下の場合を除き、受講費の払い戻しは行いません。

•  原則として、参加者が、受講キャンセルした場合、YTGはワークショップの振替実施は致しません。諸事情によるキャンセルの場合、合意があれば、キャンセルしたワークショップの時間単位の値に基づいて返金されます。
• 最終公演が中止になった場合、8000円を各参加者に返金します。

影響で、ワークショップクラス、パフォーマンス公演が中止になることも考えられます。ご了承ください。
